Rachael Payne, Trainee Solicitor at Your Legal Friend has taken home one of the prestigious Star of the Year Awards at the annual Merseyside Junior Lawyers Division Ball (MJLD).

These included Chester’s Dragon Boat Race in aid of Stick ‘n’ Step, the 5K Splash Dash in aid of Claire House Children’s Hospice and the 15-mile Wirral Coastal Walk in aid of mental health charity Mind.

Rachael is currently training in the road traffic accident department at Your Legal Friend. In her training to become a Solicitor she has also worked on cases involving conveyancing, clinical negligence and group litigation.

The MJLD Ball recognises the achievements of the best up-and-coming lawyers in the region.

It saw a total of £1,650 raised at its Full Length and Fabulous Ball , which will be donated to a new purpose-built cancer hospital in Liverpool City Centre.

Alison Saul at Your Legal Friend said: “We are delighted that Rachael’s hard work and contribution to local communities has been recognised with this prestigious award.

“In addition to having an enviable training programme which produces some of the best solicitors in our legal specialisms, we also encourage our employees to develop their wider skill sets through charitable work and other activities.

“Rachael not only has a fantastic career ahead of her, she is also an extremely compassionate person which is reflected in her fundraising activities and her approach to her clients.”

Rachael Payne, Trainee Solicitor at Your Legal Friend, added: “I am so proud to receive the Star Trainee Solicitor of the Year Award.

“My godfather was a barrister and I loved seeing people in legal roles on TV whilst growing up, so I was probably always destined to work in law!

“My father also used to run a soup kitchen in Birkenhead and he was the one who always inspired me to give back to my community.

“Helping people is in my nature and I’m very fortunate to have such an encouraging work environment that enables me to pursue my passions.”
