International Workers Memorial Day (IWMD) takes place on Saturday 28th April 2018. The aim is to remember all those around the world who sadly lost their lives through work and to raise awareness of how important it is to improve safety at work to prevent tragedies happening in the future.
Joanne Candlish, Solicitor and Department Manager for Asbestos at Your Legal Friend said “Every year we hear of men and women losing their lives due to fatal accidents at work or because of occupational exposure to hazardous substances. Every single employer has a responsibility to provide safe working conditions but sadly not all of them take it as seriously as they should and fatalities occur which could have been avoided. We understand the devastating effects this has on families and we take part in IWMD 2018 out of respect to remember those who have lost their lives.”
