What support have you received to help you develop through the company?
I started working for 2020 Legal Limited as an Office Junior in 2008. A partner of the firm asked me where I wanted to be in ten years time, I knew it was a Solicitor. I was then encouraged to go to university, get my degree and start my career. Whilst I was at university, 2020 Legal Limited allowed me to return over the summer holiday and at Christmas time. I was gaining experience all the time working in all different departments. Once I graduated from university in 2012 I applied for the role of Legal Assistant in the EL/PL department, I joined the EL/PL department in April 2012. This was a brand new role for me and I was learning and gaining experience every day. I made the decision in September 2013 to study the Legal Practice Course.
I was always encouraged to start the Legal Practice Course; I have received a lot of support in doing this. I attend the Legal Practice Course every Wednesday, to enable me to do this my manager agreed that I could attend college every Wednesday and I would work 4 days per week to allow me the time to fit all my college work in. When I saw the advertisement for the Trainee Solicitors role I knew my next step was applying and following the Assessment Centre I was successful. I am now a Trainee Solicitor undertaking my first seat within EL/PL. I have also been seconded ½ day a week into Accounts and Costs so that I also gain invaluable exposure in this side of the business. The support network here from Managers and Solicitors is excellent and inspires me to do well.
Trainee Solicitor with 2020 Legal Limited eventually qualifying as a Solicitor.
What do you like most about working for 2020 Legal?
2020 Legal Limited has always been very supportive from the beginning, I feel I am always encouraged to progress and there is always flexibility when it’s required.
