We understand you want a knowledgeable, reliable law firm with legal experts you can rely on, and we're proud our law firm has over 30 years' experience in the legal industry. Our friendly solicitors specialise in personal injury accidents that happen on the road, at work and in public everyday place, as well as niche areas including including asbestos related claims and other occupational diseases, clinical negligence, professional negligence and group litigation legal services.  In the last 10 years alone, we’ve successfully claimed over £200,000,000 for our clients.

With so many 'middlemen' out there, such as legal marketing panels seen on TV and claims management companies (CMCs), it can be hard to tell which firms really are experienced. Whoever you choose, look for their SRA number to check that they're properly regulated by the Solicitor's Regulation Authority (SRA). Your Legal Friend is a trading name of 2020 Legal Limited and our SRA ID is 560671.

Our law firm was originally founded in 1983 by Brian Camp as a one-stop shop for clients needing a Conveyancing Solicitor in Birkenhead near Liverpool. The firm grew rapidly and during the 1990s we grew to incorporate a number of additional offices in Wirral and Liverpool, with Brian Camp Solicitors becoming a well-known name in the North West area. Our portfolio of legal services also expanded and we began to offer advice on personal injury claims, predominantly related to road traffic accidents.

In 1997, all company activities were merged into purpose-built offices in Birkenhead, at Europa House, where our headquarters remain today.

In 2013, we launched our new customer-friendly name Your Legal Friend. You may have seen us advertising on TV or in the newspaper or heard our advert on the radio. We now offer legal services to clients affected by medical negligence, professional negligence, group claims, holiday illnesses, and accidents and illnesses at work.  We also still offer legal advice to clients affected by road traffic accidents and slip, trips and falls that were not their fault.

In 2015, we supported our developing medical negligence expertise by appointing Laura Morgan as our new director of medical negligence. We continued to invest in our medical negligence team in 2016 by a triple hire of three new medical negligence solicitors.

In 2016, we appointed Claire Critchley to head up our new Financial, Property, and Professional Claims team, further cementing our commitment to providing quality legal services.

Our Camps Solicitors name proudly continues to thrive and is in use for those clients who are referred to us by another business.

Today, our 2020 Legal Limited parent company, now employs over 200 people. As we continue to grow, and Your Legal Friend becomes more of a household name, we will continue to anticipate and adapt in line with the demands of the marketplace. Our aim is to provide legal services to our customers in the way that they require without compromising on professionalism, all the while ensuring affordable access to justice.

Frequently asked questions

Do you offer free advice?

As part of our claims process, we always begin with a free telephone consultation. This is an opportunity for one of our call handlers to examine your situation and tell you whether or not we think you have a claim. While we do not offer free legal advice, we are able to provide guidance on where you can find further information, if we are unable to help you. If we think you do have a claim, and you’d like for us to help you, we operate on a ‘no win, no fee’ basis.

Can I contact you on behalf of somebody else?

Absolutely. You can make an initial inquiry on behalf of a loved one. However, if they are able to manage their own affairs and are over 18, then we would need their permission for you to continue to liaise with us on their behalf.

It is possible to make a claim on behalf of a deceased loved one, on behalf of a child or on behalf of someone deemed not to have the mental capacity to manage their claim.

Where is Your Legal Friend based?

Our headquarters are based in Birkenhead, Wirral. Wirral is a small peninsula between Wales and Liverpool, in the North West of England. It is also sometimes categorised as being part of Cheshire or Merseyside. It is also near Ellesmere Port and Chester.

If I don’t live in the North West, can you still help me?

Despite being based in Wirral, we help clients all across England and Wales. Our TV, newspaper and social media adverts run at a national level. We are able to do this because a claim can largely be managed via phone, email and online communication. Where necessary, our solicitors travel up and down the country to help people and to meet them in person.

Do you have any other offices in the UK?

We do not have any other offices in the UK outside of our Birkenhead headquarters. However, our staff members do travel extensively to meet clients and business partners.

Where can I read your reviews?

We are very lucky to have many vocal, satisfied clients who have used our Trustpilot page to share their reviews of our services. You can read our reviews on our Trustpilot page here.

How do I pay for your services?

We operate on a ‘no win no fee' basis. This means that there are no fees to pay upfront for our services, and if we fail to secure you a settlement, there are no fees to pay. The only exception to this is if you make a claim fraudulently, fail to co-operate with us or withdraw from your claim.

With most personal injury claims, upon winning your case and receiving damages from the defendant, you will pay for your After the Event (ATE) insurance premium, and 25% of your settlement value upon winning your claim. In clinical negligence cases, the defendant is usually ordered to pay the legal costs, a proportion of your After The Event (ATE) insurance premium as well as the compensation you receive. In all asbestos related cases, there is no 25% deduction from your  damages at all, and in mesothelioma cases, the defendant will also be ordered to pay your ATE insurance premium.

Can I make more than one claim?

It can happen that a person has more than one claim at one time. For example, you may have been in a road traffic accident and subsequently, be the victim of negligent medical treatment. These would be two separate claims running simultaneously. You are absolutely allowed to claim for both.

Do you deal with group claims ?

We do handle group claims. When an accident or incident affects a large group of people, it is often the case that this will result in Group Litigation rather than individual claims. You may have heard this referred to as ‘Group’ or ‘Class action. You can find more information on how to begin a group claim on our group claims page.
